πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ Who Can Join

All skill levels welcome – beginners through experienced trail riders. Riders entering 4th grade through age 18 (as of September 2025).

All riders must register and submit payment before participating in team practices or rides. A BikeReg link will be shared if space becomes available.

Not sure if the program is right for your rider? We welcome new participants to join us for a single “test ride” before committing β€” space permitting.

πŸ”§ Required Equipment

All participants must bring the following to every session:

  • Mountain Bike β€“ in safe, working condition for trail use
  • Helmet β€“ worn at all times while riding (no exceptions)
  • Hydration β€“ water bottle in bike cage or hydration backpack

🌿 Trail Stewardship

We believe in giving back to the trails that support our sport. The CNY Sharks encourage riders and families to participate in:

  • Local trail maintenance and building days
  • Environmental education activities and Leave No Trace practices

🦺 Safety Standard

Safety is central to everything we do. Our program follows all NICA safety protocols, including:

  • Mandatory helmet use at all times
  • Riding only trails appropriate to each rider’s ability
  • No jumps or high-risk features – focus is on cross-country riding
  • Coach-to-rider ratio of 1:6 preferred, never exceeding 1:8
  • No rider will be unsupervised – all rides are led by certified adult coaches

All riders and coaches are expected to uphold the NICA Student-Athlete Code of Conduct. Respect for teammates, coaches, and the trail community is non-negotiable.

Any rider who does not follow the code may be removed from the program.
